This Is Kristin

• Cooper has a new book that shows pictures, and then asks questions like, “what do you think that feels like? We read about wet grass, and he said it would feel “wet.” (logical answer) Then we got to the picture of the cat, and I asked if he thought the kitty would feel soft? He said, “The kitty feels bite-y.”
• Blue has a great art class at school, and they’ve been learning about old painters. The other night we were driving at sunset, and I said, “wow, it looks like the clouds were painted with a paint brush.” Blue said, “I bet Monet painted them, because he’s dead.”
• Today we are going to bake pies and make decorations for our Thanksgiving feast.  Cooper thinks that the pilgrims are “witches,”  and Blue wonders why the men wear heels!  I hope that everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving!

Cooper is our little “sunshine.”  He walks around smiling, gives plenty of kisses and hugs throughout the day, and now that he can talk more, says the cutest things.  His cute expression and tone, however, can not come through on here!

• He walked into my room the other night, flipped on the light and said, “It’s nice to be here!”
• We were walking down the Christmas decoration aisles at a craft store the other day and he was looking around and saying loudly, “I WUV (love) Christmas!!”  (he really loves Christmas lights and decorations.. when we see lights on a house he’ll yell- “christmas!!!!”)
• After Sunday School the other day, I asked the boys what they had learned.  Cooper said, “To sit down when dads read.”  (He calls all grown men “dads” and all grown women “moms”)
• He’s also been starting many a sentence with, “Remember that time….”
• The thing I love the most is when he says, “I want to kiss your cheek”

• The first thing Aiden said to me the other morning was, “I know who works for Santa.”  I said, “who?”  He says, “a delf.”
• I was helping Blue with his homework and he was trying to rush so he could go play outside.  I said, “You need to always do your best.”  He replied, “nobodys perfect.”
• Cooper asked Brody for something the other day, and Brody had said, “when you woke up you were grumpy and didn’t want it.”  Cooper replied, “I don’t like being grumpy, I like being happy.”
• Cooper has been carrying around a small New Testament Bible saying, “Jesus wuvs (loves) us.”  I think that is so simply precious.
• Tiny Talk Tuesday~

• Blue asked the other night, “Do you have to pay to get bath-tized?”  (baptized)
• Blue tried to convince me that his sleeping bag would make an excelent rain coat, if we cut out eye holes for him to see.
• Blue gets distracted very easily and has an imaginative mind, along with a go getter spirit, which leads me to constantly have to re direct him to get things done at home.  This weekend we had to get to his basketball camp, and I asked him to go and get dressed, then get his shoes on.  I went and got myself ready, and then came down stairs to see our dog standing in the middle of the living room wearing Blue’s basketball shoes, along with the kids’ small chair sitting on top of our dogs’ back.   I then walked into the kitchen and found Blue curled up inside and zipped up, in one of those plastic cases that comforters come in.  I got really frustrated, saying, “Blue- how is putting your shoes onto Luther, (our dog) and getting inside a plastic bag- which is really dangerous by the way- not to mention, how did you zip yourself into that? How is this accomplishing you getting ready for basket ball camp???”   (Then about halfway to the gym, the morning was replaying in my mind, and I burst out laughing…. there are no words!)
• Tiny Talk Tuesday

• We have been trying to remember to say grace before we eat each night at dinner, and we usually hold hands, but depending where we sit, we can’t always reach around the table.  So I told the boys, lets just fold our hands tonight.  Blue says, “we can’t fold our hands because then we are crossing our fingers, and God won’t think we mean our prayers.”
• We read a story tonight, and in it they mentioned sand dollars.  Blue says, “I wish I had some sand dollars, then I could pay fish.”
• Blue and some friends have been writing love notes to some girls on their bus who are in 5th grade, these boys are in 1st.  Blue has been writing the love notes “for” his friends, not from himself.  I told him the other day that notes didn’t need to be “love” notes, they could be “friend” notes.  The next note he wrote said, “I do not like you, but you are a swety and we can be best frends.”
• Tiny Talk Tuesday..

• Blue is very interested in Presidents and borrowed a book from the library about all the presidents.  He was sitting and looking through it, and I asked him what he was learning from the book.  He says, “Presidents have pet donkeys and elephants.”
• I gave Cooper a cookie the other day, and he says, “this tastes like sh___.”  I say, “ummm, what did you just say?”  He says, “this tastes like sh____.”  So I thought, there’s no way he’s heard that word, what could he possibly be saying instead?  I asked him to point to it, and he goes into the pantry and points at the chips…. phew…
• I had just gotten through a dinner with my boys, when I reflected on the wisdom I’d passed onto them during that time period- “the freezer is not a playground, please get out of it.”  ”well, that’s what happens when you put lightning mcqueen in your milk, he gets wet.”  ”no, we don’t talk about (insert body parts) at the table, eat your chicken.”
• I accidentally drove down a road that was blocked off and then I couldn’t turn around. I said out loud, “I wonder if I should just move those cones and go through.”  Aiden says, “No! mama you’ll go to jail!”
• Tiny Talk Tuesday.

• Blue asked me, “can you try to live until you are 1000 years old, because then you could be the oldest person ever, and that would be cool.”
• The boys were playing half animal half person, and Blue says, “I am half cheeta, because I’m fast, and mama you can be half elephant.”…. I said, “because, why?”  He looked at me and says, “actually you can be half horse cause you have long hair.”
• I was telling Aiden my day and that I went to lunch with friends.  He asked who, and I told them their names and that one of them was named Robin.  He asked, “Do you have a friend named Batman too?”
• Blue is an opptomist, he gets upset if he’s really tired or sick, but most of the time he sees the bright side of things.  He had been saving his money to buy some things, and ended up buying a plastic sword thing of some sort.  The day he bought it, Cooper accidentally stepped on it and broke off part of the handle.  Instead of getting mad, Blue says, “Now it looks like I’ve been in lots of battles!”
• Tiny Talk Tuesday

It’s been awhile since one of these posts, but my kids have not stopped being cute. This conversation most recently cracked me up-

The boys were playing rockstars, and setting up our living room like it was their bus. Cooper was sitting on the couch watching Little Einsteins, and Aiden says, “Mama, rockstars don’t watch this.” Blue responded saying, “Aiden we’ll just pretend we brought a baby with us.”

Later Aiden’s holding a sippy cup with milk in it and says, “do rockstars only drink water, or do they drink milk?” Blue says, “They drink water, but Milk?-no way! And Aiden rockstars don’t wear transformer bandaids, they only wear plain ones, so you have to change that.”

A couple days ago we went to a walking trail to ride bikes, and we were resting on a bench when a lady ran by us. Aiden asked in a really loud voice, “why is she running so slow?”

…Tiny Talk Tuesday…

Blue has said some pretty cute and creative things lately…

• His stomach was hurting the other night, and after some mild dinner I asked him how he was feeling, He said “I feel better, now I have an Ex- stomach ache.”
• Blue was telling me about a little girl in his class, whose grandma lives with them.  He said, “When her mom is gone, her grandma is like the vice mom.”  
• One day we were watching the Jonas Brother’s sing, and Blue said he liked the lead singer the best.  Then he said, “I like all lead singers, they always have the best hair.”  

(which is why he’s growing out the front only, of his hair.)

We played a game the other night while eating dinner, where you go around and ask a question.  We made cards with colors and numbers, and the questions on the back, to make it easy for the kids to choose.  Some of the answers were priceless: 

1.~ What is your favorite season?  Aiden’s answer:  ”I like the one with snow… but not if I’m outside.  I only like the one with snow if I can look at snow from my window, then it’s my favorite.”  

2.~ Would you rather see God or hear Him?  Blue’s answer: “See him… we don’t know what He looks like, but we have to hear him all the time!”  

3.~ If we could go on a family vacation, anywhere in the world, where would you want to go?  Blue’s answer: “To Mammos.”  (awww) and Aiden’s answer:  ”to McDonalds.”   

~ Cooper answered every question thoughtfully, with ” ummm….. Aiden.”  

(P.S. What is it about the age of 2 that my son suddenly doesn’t need to sleep anymore? I think I’ll go crazy if he keeps skipping his naps, and staying up late, and waking up early!)
