New Pets!

The boys got some Christmas money, and wanted to get some hermit crabs, because they’d never had enough to get the little aquarium and all the things that went with it. We got to the pet store, looked at the crabs and fish then walked around. Blue fell in love with the dwarf hamsters, and so did Aiden, so they changed their mind, and we ended up coming home with 2 dwarf hamsters. Aiden named his, “John Winston,” and Blue named his, “Princess.”
Growing up I had a couple of hamsters, “Teddy,” and “Nestle.” One day when I was cleaning Teddy’s cage, I put him in a drawer, not knowing that the drawer opened up into the wall. Teddy was lost on the inside of the wall, I could hear him scuttling around in there…. and then a few days later there was a bad smell…. Hopefully that doesn’t happen with John Winston and Princess!

John Winston and Princess? That is really funny. I hope they enjoy their new pets.

They will enjoy the hamsters so much better than a hermit crab.
We have a hermit crab, Bella and she stays in her shell most of the time. We also have a guinea pig, Snickers, we had two but one died. She is a lot more active and squeals. I don’t much care for cleaning the cage but it comes with having pets. We also have some fish, only 2 left. Then there is our 14 year old dog, Shelby, who is my baby. Can you tell we love pets?

Your dog looks lonely back there with the new pets getting all the attention. I’m glad I have girls who never asked for rodents. I really don’t think I could handle that. Hope the boys enjoy their new pets!

I love the way you tell stories, Kristin.

That’s the saddest hamster story… it reminds me of once how I came home from college and my little sister was excited to show me her pet rabbits; only, when she showed me their cage, one was dead.
