The most unused thing at my house is my rec center tag on my key ring. I have never seen the plants that you mention. Maybe I should go to the rec center tomorrow and see them!

I do like azaleas. I also like those plants that they have at the rec center, with the bright pink flowers. Do you happen to know what those are?

You know, azaleas may also be an option. They really dig the full sun and the flowers are amazing. Especially when you mix the flower colors up in your planting design. They bloom all at once in the spring and the flowering lasts for a month or so. This leaves room for other plants and flowers to fill in their color through the rest of the spring and summer. I grew up around azaleas and they are quite lovely. Allie also has some good full sun plant suggestions that we use in our front beds too.

Joe,
Advice is always welcome and much appreciated! I didn't research before I put the rose bushes in and apparently they are the type that get the black spot disease, especially in humid climates, so they were doomed from the start and I didn't even know. My front, as you know is full sun, so I will look into that, it will have to be something that can handle that.

I have absolutely no flowers of any kind on our property. Mostly because I kill them...not on purpose. Unfortunately, because we have no flowers we are great candidates for one of those "curb appeal" shows. Our house has been on the market a little over 3 mos. and still hasn't sold.

From the Unsolicited advice column... If you go the dogwood route check with the nursery that you buy from. Generally dogwoods are "shade tolerant" species. Meaning that they thrive in shade and tend to putz out in full sun. However now-a-days there may be some varieties out there that handle full(er) sun better. Crepe myrtles will do really well in your front bed. Unsolicited advice column is now closed...
