Redeeming Love.

I finished this (fat) book in a week. I always devour the Francine Rivers books, she’s an excellent writer.

This story however was hard to read. It made my stomach hurt at times, and sometimes just had to put it down. Last night, I’d made it to about 3/4’s of the way through. My husband fell asleep, and I read and read and read through the rest of the story, ending it at 1 am. By the end, I was completely sobbing.

What I loved most about this story, is (obviously) the story of redemption. I love how God, in the story, wove her story full circle, how she was able to help so many girls. The best part of the story was when she was able to rescue “Faith.” I sobbed and sobbed.

It was interesting to see God’s patience with her, and working on her little by little. The gentelness of it all was so sweet. The neighbors who became like sisters to her, and that sweet baby girl who softened her….. makes me want to read it all over again!

This was an really wonderful story.

*So lets talk about it… What was your favorite part? More thoughts?

I guess I’ll have to follow in your footsteps and pick this one up after I read The Shack. I love a good cry.

It’s been a long time since I’ve read this, but I remember enjoying it when I did read it!

It’s been a few years since I read Redeeming Love, but I too had to put it down at times. It just hurt to read some of the beginning parts. I do remember crying my way through the end as well. She is an amazing author! I need to read this one again. What are you going to read next? I have a Rachel Hauck book I got for Christmas, Love Begins With Elle. I’ve never read anything by this author, so we’ll see.

Strangely enough.. I’ve read it. And my thought through the whole book was the same. There is no possible way I could be that man. I don’t have it in me.

But I also lived in Amsterdam for awhile and worked right in the middle of the red light district. It was heartbreaking, and took my memories of that book to a different level.

I had a hard time at first. I wasn’t really in to it. But, the more I read, the more I loved it. I think I read it before Ragan was born. It has been awhile. But, even though it has been so long… there were so many parts I loved. I sobbed through most of the book. (Once I got through the first 3 chapters. I find with most Francine Rivers books I am like that. I can’t say there is one that I don’t eventually love though) Michael Hosea was so beautifully written as a character. What a picture of Christ he is. It totally made me want to read the book of Hosea after I was done too. (Very good, not quite as dramatic, but Redeeming Love gave me a new insite to Hosea that was for sure.) I am so glad you love it. It is one of those books that has stuck with me a long time. I really want to read it again. Love you, Kristin

Oh girl. That is a GOOD ONE. Tears. Many many tears as I read it.

Have you read her book “The Last Sin Eater”? It is my FAVORITE. You know I’m just up in Nashville- if you wanna borrow it, let me know. :)

I agree, most of Francine Rivers books are hard to get really into at the first, but she’s such a good author that she seems to be really building the story in the beginning, and keeps you reading, and then by the end you remember those things from the beginning, and it all ties together.

My favorites of hers are the Mark of the Lion series, but yes I’ve also read The sin eater, which was really good. Anyone seen the movie? I heard it wasn’t that good compared to the book.

Now I am reading “Veil of Roses,” by Laura Fitzgerald.

I am actually in the middle of reading this book right now, it is incredible thus far and I can barely stand to put it down!
If you are familiar with Andrew Peterson’s music ( i noticed that you had gone to BTLOG ) his latest CD, Redemption Letters: Vol II has a song called Hosea and it, too is beautiful!
