Misleading Ads

November 13, 2008 - 9:33 am 6 Comments

I was clicking through my reader, when I came upon a blog that had this add on the side:

Hmm, this add is a little confusing…

If I was reading JUST the words, I would assume this is an add for weight loss.

However, if I was looking at the before and after pictures I would have to assume it was an advertisement for skin bleaching.

Congrats!

Our friends in CA just welcomed a baby girl into the world a few days ago!

She is adorable and we are so happy for them.
They are such great people and are going to make wonderful parents.

*Congratulations to Kyle and Colette.

My Drunk Husband.

He’s not really drunk.

He claims that every picture that he tries to smile in makes him look drunk.

So I picked up the camera and took this picture.

Yeah, he’s right.

*It can be a very beautiful thing when a group of Christians, gather together with guards down, pride left at the door, and authentic spirits.

Last night was one of those nights. We gathered with our friends from church to speak about what we are going to do for the community this Christmas. It was amazing to see how every member of the group was excited to participate and do their part.

The conversation then moved to our own lives. We spoke about many praises and rejoiced at how God was answering some of the things we’ve been praying for, for months. We cried with one another over trials, and we encouraged one another with the fears of the unknown. We then prayed. It was one of those special prayers, that clearly defined the power of “when two or more are gathered in His name.”

It was a moving, and uplifting experience to bear one another’s burdens, and I am so great full to share these weekly meetings and moments with them.

Same Baby, Same Basket

This guy loves to sit in this basket. These pictures are around 1 year apart. I’m curious to see how long this lasts… maybe someday I’ll have a picture of this 18 year old boy with his foot in this basket, but I don’t know if that would be as cute then- funny though…

Hope and Faith

November 10, 2008 - 11:19 am 1 Comment

My friends, we are not those who give up hope and so are lost; but we are of the company who live by faith and so are saved… Faith is the assurance of things you have hoped for, the absolute conviction that there are realities you’ve never seen.”

~Hebrews 10:39-11:1 The Voice

*Hope and Faith are at times some of the hardest things to muster, (for me) during the dark times of life, but it seems that without faith it is hard to have hope. They go hand in hand, and when I can truly grab ahold of my faith, and it’s strength, I have a new found hope. I am glad that it’s not the other way around. It is easy to loose hope, and to feel lost, yet if my faith is secure, and strong, then my hope remains.

I’ve been reading a new version of the bible, called “The Voice.” I love how it’s written. I especially appreciate the descriptive excerpt boxes that explain things, and definitions a little deeper.

*What is your favorite translation of the bible?

What Do You Want to Be When You Grow Up?

November 7, 2008 - 9:53 am 10 Comments

~ Blue had to dress up today in “what do you want to be when you grow up?” attire. He was stressed about this, and kept saying he didn’t want to do it. Now, this is a child who is ALWAYS in some sort of costume, so I knew something was wrong. When I sat down and talked to him, he said, “I don’t know what I want to be… I’m going to be a football player, or a pilot, or a policeman… but I don’t know. Do I have to be that forever?” I assured him that whatever he decided to wear to school today, did not cement his decision for life, and that he could indeed change his mind. If that were the case, then I really would’ve ended up being an indian princess…

He went as a pilot, but refused to wear a tie.

~What did you want to be when you grew up, when you were 6? Did you become that?
