Disturbing Dreams

November 23, 2008 - 8:53 am 7 Comments

I’ve been having a few disturbing dreams the past couple consecutive nights.

They are disturbing because they are so boring.

The first one was about picking out a broom… in a store… that is all.

The second one was about cleaning my shower with bleach, and me explaining to my husband how we need to keep the kids out of there because bleach is so toxic, but we need the shower cleaner.

Then this last one tonight was me and Brody driving in a car, arguing about how far it was to Michigan.

Each time I woke up because I wanted to dream something different. Alright dream experts, what does this say about me?

I’m not a dream expert, but I’d say boring dreams are better than the scary sort. Last night I dreamed I was grocery shopping in Aldis and eating the fudge striped cookies right there in the store (I don’t even eat those!) I swear I could taste the chocolate too. Weird. At least there are no calories in dream-cookies.

I would say that either you feel like you are swamped in the mundane, crippled from your creative efforts and dreams, or that you are afraid that will happen… Maybe afraid of losing your creative spark.

I’m thinking this is pretty common with creative moms, especially those who are raising three small boys.

This might be unrealistic, but I suggested this to my sister, an Opera singer/mom-of-two-little-ones, and it seemed to work for her. Maybe take time out of your day, even if it is 10-20 minutes at the end and dedicate it to doing something that you love. Even if you are exhausted. See if that helps. You’ll be back into the weird dreams in no time!

    Just a shot.

I agree with Seth, and I didn’t even tell him to say that.

I have no idea what the dreams mean…but they sure are funny to read.

I’ve heard some people say that in dreams you are really every person, or object. That confuses me too much. I think it’s more along the lines of what you are battling, or thinking about subconsciously.

Lisa~ a yummy dream. that’s a fun one! Maybe you are cookie deprived, that’s why you were eating them in the store!

Seth~ I would have to say you probably hit the nail on the head.

Kristin, I’ve been having strange dreams, too. Not boring, but just weird. And a little bit disturbing. Maybe it’s the change in the weather?
