“Keep Calm and Carry On”

“Keep Calm and Carry On” was the theme of my last 5 days. My husband has been gone for 5 days, and I have slept little, dealt with a dog with OCD itching issues, (enough to make him bleed) a dog who has also decided to suddenly relieve himself on the carpet, and little boys who for some reason want to wake up at 5 am each day. I’ve spilt an entire cup of coffee in my car, been late places, have a leaking water heater, received some kind of important letter about our mortgage that I can’t decipher, and have felt wound pretty tightly.
However the above phrase has been helpful. I’ve lost my cool a few times, but all in all, I had a really great time with my kids. I had a weekend long game of UNO with my son, played basketball with him and received a picture from him, of me playing basketball, with an “I love yow” written at the top. We planted the cuttings from our “sentimental plant,” with my dad. I’ve been able to watch a lot of chick flicks, and read a novel. Our home group has been so helpful with checking in on me, and is bringing me dinner once a week while my husband is traveling.
Thankfully he’s on his way home now for a couple of days. I will try my best not to sprint out the door as soon as he walks in.

I bet the “I love yow” picture helped!
Praying for you.

Yipes, sounds like a rough week. One of my favorite quotes during rough times is: Everything works out in the end. If it hasn’t worked out, it’s not the end. -Unknown
Hang in there!

Kristin,
Oh, that sounds awful. I’ll be praying that the next few days will be immensely refreshing for you.

What a blessing that your home group is checking in and bringing a dinner once a week. That is an answer to prayer. And even more so, that you are willing to accept those gestures. I know so many of us struggle with that. We are great at giving, but receiving can feel funny at times. I will be continuing to lift you, Brody, and the boys up in prayer. I’ll also be adding the hot water heater to that list. When “big ticket” items like that go on the fritz it can be SO stressful. If I lived by you all, I would offer to come over and hang out with your little guys so you could get out by yourself at least once (if not twice) a week. I know I can’t fly out to do that, but I can pray. You are doing such a service unto the Lord Kristin. He is so very proud of you!
