*Positive Post Tuesday*

~Today I am writing a positive post about my son’s kindergarten teacher. First of all, I am not totally sure that I could be a kindergarten teacher in general. Just seeing how his teacher is on top of everything in a class with 20- 5 and 6 year olds, all vying for her attention, and along with that, planning ahead, and organizing the parent volunteers etc. She’s really got it together, and is incredibly sweet spirited, the kids love her as well.

I feel very good having her guide my son through his first year of school.

Personalities

September 15, 2008 - 3:04 pm 6 Comments

I’ve been reading about different personalities and temperaments found in people, and how to identify them in children. It has really opened my eyes in dealing with my children differently, because my two oldest have extremely different personalities, and therefore different “needs,” from me as a parent.

As far as my husband and I are concerned, we seem to be a variety of the different temperaments. It seems we compliment each other well. My weaknesses are his strengths in certain areas, and visa versa.

This is the book I am reading, and this is the quick online quiz to help determine your own personality/ temperament combination. If you are interested….

*Anyone else ever study the Sanguine, Choleric, Melancholy and Phlegmatic temperaments?

AC Serious

I entered this in a “serious face” photo contest, and sadly it didn’t win. He used to make this face all the time, it was hilarious! All my kids have had some sort of “face” that they would make. My oldest would make what we all called “hulk face,” as a baby… and this one, the “serious face,” and my last one does the super big smile…as you’ve seen on here before!

~Don’t you think he should’ve won? (the answer I’m looking for is, “yes! of course he should’ve won! he’s the cute-est of all!”…..or something like that!)

*Our three year old was walking out of Sunday school, and watching the other kids walking out holding some pictures. He said, “I didn’t get a poster from Jesus.”

*Our six year old was working on some “color wonder” pictures. He said, “I think I know why they call it ‘color wonder’…. because you color, and then you wonder when the color is going to show up!”

*Our 22 month old has been saying words NON STOP! He narrates our meals for us, in his loudest voice possible. “Cup…..water (pronounced wa-gee)….. shoe……ball…..mama…..daddy…..” on and on, every word he knows. He throws in a couple of laughs now and then too. It is very cute, but seriously loud! He did this all the way through Target the other day too.

Funny kids…

A Good Rental

September 8, 2008 - 8:50 am 6 Comments

We watched “Vantage Point,” last night. It was fast paced and had me hooked in from the first 5 minutes. The concept is, that you get to see what happens from every persons’ “vantage point.” It’s one of those movies where you say, “It’s already over?” at the end, because you are pulled into it the entire time. I liked it, it was a good movie.

We did have a hard time choosing a movie to rent. It’s been a long time since Brody and I sat down to watch a movie together, so we didn’t know what get. Any recent rentals that you can recommend?

Facebook funny story…

Some friends of mine are on Facebook, and had a hilarious story of how a wife was logged in as her husband (on accident) and sent out a piece of “flare,” (which is a button) that was supporting breast cancer, saying, “your boobs are important to me,” to a bunch of her women friends. They received this message, and thought he must be kidding, but found it a little odd. Fortunately the wife quickly realized that she was logged in as the husband, and sent out a mass e mail apologizing for the mistake!

So funny….

~Anyone have any funny accidental e mail, or online miss-hap stories?

A Project in Process

September 4, 2008 - 8:27 pm 1 Comment

We had mold growing all over our deck. So Brody borrowed our neighbors power washer and cleaned it off. Then the wood looked great, but it looked like it had been sanded, and the wood was exposed. So, we realized we needed to stain it, to protect it. I had no idea how great a stain can make a deck look. It is cheap and easy, and fun. We’ve had to do it in stages, and the outside is not done yet, but it is getting there. In the process I have realized that I really like staining wood!

Any home improvement projects that you’ve found that do a lot for a house?
