My three year old, can melt anyone’s heart. He’s precious.

He’s been saying the cutest things lately.

*While watching the olympic water polo teams, he said, “They are playing water ball… soccer… and they wear water under ware.”

*He turned to me out of nowhere the other day and says, “when I’m big I want to drive trucks.”

*While swinging on the swings he says, “swing me the higher-est, like I’m flying.”

Every night when we pray, and I ask what he’s great full for he says, “you mama.”
See? Precious.
I love this boy. He’s a sensitive, kind spirited, beautiful little boy.

Here we go…

It is beginning. My first born son is starting kindergarten.

This is the beginning of his personal life experiences. “This is a good thing,” I tell myself, while the tears stream down my cheeks.

“Why am I crying?” I ask myself. He is growing, he is healthy, this is where he should be, this is good. Why am I sad? He needs to be here, he’s climbing the walls at home. It’s time. Why am I not ready for this by now?

Logically, this is a great thing. We love the teacher, we love the school, it’s close to home, he’s got friends there, it’s good for him. I just can’t stop the tears.

What makes it harder, is that he’s afraid to go. He gets himself worked up, and there’s no calming him down.

I’m just glad for both of us, that they ease us into this whole school thing.

In the moment.

I am the type of person who has a hard time really really focusing on the present moment. I am here mentally and all, it’s just that I am thinking about what comes next. For instance, while I’m cooking dinner, I’m thinking about how nice it’s going to be to sit down and eat it with my family. Then while I’m sitting there eating it, I’m thinking about how quickly I’ll be able to do the dishes, and if the kids need baths or not.. and it goes on and on like that. I am a perpetual planner.

I’ve been trying to get myself to focus more on the moment, just so I can really soak things in, and enjoy things more.

We are starting a series at church called, “Live like you were dying.” We are going to be involved in the side study in a home group, which is a new thing for us, but I am excited about this.

The point is to make the most of each day, to have your priorities in order, to be in the moment, and to “live like you were dying”. Some of the subjects are: “Love Deeper,” “Give Forgiveness,” “Embrace Eternity,” and “Speak Sweeter.” I think this is going to be a good study.

*What is one thing you would change about the way you live each day, if you had 30 days left to live?

This is Cool!

“If you’re looking for the tallest tower of LEGO in the world, here’s a picture of it right here. This monster was built in the Legoland Windsor theme park in the U.K. of 500,000 LEGO bricks, and stands just shy of 100 feet high.”

Favorite time of year?

What is your favorite time of year and why?

~ I have always loved the first part of summer, end of spring. I love the flowers blooming.

However, since moving to TN, I now have really bad allergies during that time of year. Out here in TN, I love the beginning of fall when the weather starts to cool down, but there is still the bright sunshine, and the leaves begin to turn colors. It’s not quite that time of year yet, but I feel it coming….

Happy Birthday Bluie!

August 15, 2008 - 6:05 am 6 Comments

Today is my oldest son’s 6th birthday!

He’s been full of energy since I was pregnant with him. Out of all 3 of my children, he was the wiggliest and wildest during pregnancy. He’d kick and squirm and jump all day long. As a baby in the bouncer he’d kick kick kick. He walked before he crawled, he found a way out of his crib by 10 months old. At his 1st birthday party, he was jumping off of the diving board, and riding a tricycle down the road. At 2 he’d run laps around the living room, while we’d count…25…26…27….seriously…. He has more energy than all of us combined, and with that energy comes optimism and a love for life.

I love him more than I can express or describe. He was seriously a changing point in my life- a huge gift. I’ve learned so much through him, and with him. I feel so fortunate to have him in my life. He’s amazing.

So, Happy Birthday to our wonderful Blue!

He borrowed the scissors to finish off the scarf he was finger knitting.
This is what he did with the scissors.

Then he cut up the yarn, to make himself a wig.

* So, what is your story? Who’s hair did you cut as a child, and how did it turn out?

I cut my friend Dana’s hair. Her mother was not happy, and neither was mine.

A little dirt.

When they asked if they could use the pot of dirt where my “plants weren’t growing,” I said, “sure go ahead,” thinking that meant, playing with a little bit of dirt putting it in their buckets and things….

Then I saw this…
