Positive Post Tuesday.

We started going to our home group through our church last night. The focus of this week, in the “Live like you were dying,” series is “Speak Sweeter.” One of the questions we answered, was, “What is one thing that someone has said to you in your life, that encouraged, or affirmed you in significant way?”

I am going to answer that question for Positive Post Tuesday, and want to hear your answers as well!

A person that has profound impact on my life in a verbal way, is my mother in law. She encourages me with words, any time that I need encouragement. She makes me feel like anything is possible with God, any obstacle can be overcome, and she makes me feel good, by always telling me, “You are doing good.”

That simple statement stretches far for me. I watch her believe in people around her. Really and truly believing her children, her grandchildren, her husband and her friends are the most wonderful people. She loves deeply from her heart, and it pours out of her mouth. I truly appreciate her, and her sweet words, as I am sure the many people in her life do also. She is not afraid to “speak sweetly,” to anyone, and I find that inspiring!

I agree with you about your mother in law.

My sister in law recently said to me that of all her very closest friends, I am the only person she feels comfortable telling “everything” to. This affirmed for me that I have been a trustworthy, understanding, unjudging friend to her over the years. My advice is valued, and even if she just needs an ear to listen, mine is safe. These are things I aim to have my friends say at my funeral. What a blessing to be told, while I’m living!

Lord, continue teaching me to be better and better at loving others.

Kookie…You honor me greatly. I thank you. The truth is, that you are so easy to encourage…I love you beyond words..I truly think you are a wonderful wife and mother and I know,I know that with the Lord you can do anything. You are talented and loving and precious.

    Thank you so much…Mom

I think someone who has encouraged me was an old pastor of mine Darrel McLeod. I was a PK and one day he pulled me aside and said, “You will do great things, just keep believing in who you are and what your gifts are and don’t let others tell you, you can’t be that.” Being under the microscope as a PK, this pulled so much enthusiasm out of my inner most being and really helped me believe in myself as a woman and as a Christ Follower. It helped define my identity in the Lord rather than just being someone’s daughter. :)

“Speak sweeter…” so important in our day-to-day and yet, so very easy to breeze right past in the rush of life. Good reminder.
I tell you what Kristin. I have never even met your “mother-in-love” personally, only through the cyberworld, but she is indeed one of the sweetest, most tender-hearted women I know. A tremendous blessing from the Lord. She greatly encourages me and “loves on my heart.” What a great positive post this is. I feel warmed, comforted, just reading it. Thanks.
    Melody
