He borrowed the scissors to finish off the scarf he was finger knitting.
This is what he did with the scissors.

Then he cut up the yarn, to make himself a wig.

* So, what is your story? Who’s hair did you cut as a child, and how did it turn out?

I cut my friend Dana’s hair. Her mother was not happy, and neither was mine.

I don’t remember ever taking scissors to my or anyone else’s hair.

Lil’E recently scalped all of her My Little Ponies and some of her dolls, though.

  2. randy Says:

I once cut my hair at Mother’s Day Out. My mom was not happy either. P.S.-how do you finger knit!?

When I was 6, I cut my 4 yr. old sister’s hair. Almost gave her buzzed-looking bangs. Then I put the hair in a baggy and gave it to my mom. I thought she’d think it was cool. She didn’t.

OH MY GOODNESS! :) Man that brings back some memories.
Tell the truth Kristin…did you freak (even on the inside) for just like half a sec – visions of next week’s Kindergarten “first day” pics running through your head?!
You know what though? You know you are seriously cute when you look so adorable after cutting your own hair. Yea baby. :)
As far as who’s hair I cut first. That’d be my little sister, Amanda. Mom still recites the story (with a bit of a sigh and whine) to this day. Manda’s precious blond curls all hacked off, never to return again. When her hair grew back alas, the curls were no more. My explanation to mom, “We pay (play) booty (beauty) shop momma.”

These are all such great stories!

Melody- yes, kindergarten was the first thing I thought of, and then I started laughing!

As a mother of four, I can tell you that if all they do is cut their hair (or that of a sibling’s, friend’s, or pet’s) then you are blessed! Two of my little blessings cut their clothing on different occasions. NEVER let them hold scissors while watching TV! I’ve also lost a couple of different sets of sheets and some wallpaper.

Of course, these were the same two that poked holes in their bedroom ceiling to “see what was on the other side.”

Creativity coupled with and active imagination and ADD can be a “bad” match when scissors are around.

My youngest was 4 and my oldest 6.
    My perspective went like this.
I rounded the corner from the kitchen to the dining room because it was way too quiet for way too long. There was clumps of hair leading to my two darlings. My oldest with the scissors and my youngest grinning from ear to ear.
    Now my wife’s perspective.
She thought someone lost a limb with the way I screamed. She came running, then laughed. I guess I lost my mind for just a moment.
It all ended up find being my sister is a professional hair stylist/dresser. In hind site, it grew back, not completely sure why I freaked out so much.

i gave my bangs a nice little trim…just like the picture above…and right before a Christmas recital.

so far with my kids, it’s only been grandma that cut my daughter’s bangs. but we “threatened” her, and there has been no trouble since. :P

A kid in Sunday School fell asleep and I cut his hair. Well, half of his hair.

I cut my cousin’s hair once and she cried and I would always cut my Barbies’ hair.

Those are the kind of things you’re so mad about at the time but always look back and laugh at. As you said, everyone does that at least once in their life.

Cute pictures. At least you captured it for posterity.

Oh, and I love that he tried cutting up the yard to make a scarf. Don’t you have any “blond-colored” yarn? :-)

  17. Emily Says:

I cut my own hair and then threw the trimmings on our rust-colored carpet, thinking it would go unnoticed there instead of being immediately discovered in the trach can. I was wrong.

  18. jessie Says:

I cut my cousin’s bangs really short right before she was supposed to be a flower girl in our aunts wedding. Never going to live that down.

  19. Jonathan Says:

I cut my little brother David’s hair in the back…it looked great, and for some reason my parents didn’t appreciate all the work I put into it.

  20. kortney Says:

I gave my mom a haircut when I was little. She was laying on the ground and I was sitting on her back and told her that I was going to cut her hair now. She thought I was pretending and said “okay”. So I took out the scissor’s and cut a little off.
