Shakin’ like an earth quake…

April 18, 2008 - 12:20 pm 9 Comments

Apparently we had an earthquake here in TN. this morning around 4 am. No one in my house woke up, or felt it, but our neighbors did, and said it was a .5 earthquake.

I remember as a kid, when I lived in Los Angeles, we’d have really bad earthquakes, and have to crawl under the kitchen table until they stopped. I remember swaying on the staircase, hearing the car alarms going off outside, and watching the things on my dresser fall off. They never really scared me, probably because I didn’t know what was happening, I probably thought, “this is like a roller coaster!”

Anyone have a good earthquake story, or feel the one this morning?

Not the girly girl

I’ve never been a super girly girl, never really liked the color pink, but having this many males in my life, makes me love to look at girly girl things. I like having my sons little girl friends over, so I can play with their hair, and we can color the kitten pictures together. I ooo and ahhh over the cute little girl clothes in stores, and tell my husband how much money I’d waste on clothes, if we’d had a girl. So it’s probably good we didn’t.

I saw this picture of a petti skirt that you can make for your little girl, and I loved it!
How cute is this?

My e mail voice mail

April 16, 2008 - 1:13 pm 8 Comments

I’ve realized recently that the best way to get in touch with me is through e mail. I treat it like a voice mail, or something that I check regularly, better than I do my phone.

The ringer on my phone is usually not on, and I forget to check it for messages, and usually forget it in my purse.

Harder than that is finding a quiet un-interrupted space of time that I can actually call someone and have a conversation.

So, I think most of my friends and family have learned to either call my husband, or to e mail me, to get in touch with me.

Am I the only one who is like this?

Stuff in the crib.. part 2

My three year old and 1 year old share a room. The 1 year old is still in a crib, but the 3 year old gets toys and books etc, and brings them to him.
This is what I found in his crib the other night:

Meeting Tracy

April 14, 2008 - 5:53 pm 1 Comment

We were privileged to have Tracy spend a couple of nights at our house this weekend. I had never met her before, or really spoken to her, other than through blogging. My husband has spoken very highly of her, and she’s helped him out of his wisdom tooth jam last year, and a friend out of him losing his teeth recently. She’s an awesome person. Super nice, super fun, and amazingly patient. My boys adored her, and would not stop playing “eye spy,” with her. Every where we went, the game was going on.

I wish I had gotten a picture with you Tracy… and I wish I hadn’t backed into your rental car this morning… I am so sorry! Thanks for spending some of your weekend with us!

“to those who were seated…”

April 9, 2008 - 5:13 pm 4 Comments

~My mother in law can be so encouraging to me. She was talking to me the other day about patience, faith and waiting on the Lord. She re-told me the story of the loaves and fishes, and how in a bible study she was doing, they highlighted the portion where, Jesus says, “Have the people sit down.” There was plenty of grass in that place, and the men sat down, about five thousand of them. Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish.”

I hadn’t thought about that part of the story, or even noticed it before. That Jesus first gave the instruction for the people to be seated, to wait expectantly for Him to do something. He didn’t tell them what He was going to do, just asked them to sit. He then gave to those who had listened to Him, and sat, and waited.

… That is so interesting to me. I think obedience, patience and faith are something that I am continually learning. I’m not one to sit down and wait, and at times I think I have more faith and dependence in myself, or others around me, then I do in God. For instance, if I had been there that day, would I have ignored Jesus, and gone home and fed myself, or would I have sat down, and waited?

(hope that makes sense, I’m super tired and stretched for time, I have just been mulling that over in my head for a few days… anyone else think of it that way before, or have any deep thoughts on it?)
