Tiny Talk Tuesday

April 29, 2008 - 7:00 am 11 Comments

My oldest son and I were having our nightly conversation the other night, where he tells me some crazy stories, or talks about things of the day.

The other night, he told me, “I’m going to marry you when I’m big.”

I know… (awwww)

Then he added, “… because, you have the most comfortable bed.”

This cracks me up…

Apparently this is what they do, while I am away…
Brody cut off the bottoms of his pants, and made headbands for the boys… this picture makes me laugh so hard.

Cute stuff

~Aunty Cookie makes cute things…. and has a cute name, (my niece and nephews call me that). Her stuff is mostly prints on fabric, which is so cool. I took a printing class in college, and loved it. It’s so messy, and fun. The above picture is a tooth holder for those little ones who loose their teeth… and the bottom one is something I’d like to hang in my house.

Citrus Uses

April 25, 2008 - 11:14 am 2 Comments

I love the smell of citrus, and there are so many uses for it.  Here are a few (new to me uses) from the list of 27 uses for citrus.

  • Rub lemon on your faucets to remove lime scale, hard water stains, and soap residue. It also works on porcelain.
  • Whiten tennis shoes by spraying them with lemon juice and placing them in the sun
  • Stud an orange with cloves and hang it in your closet to keep moths away.
  • Rub fresh orange or lemon peels over your exposed skin to keep away mosquitoes and gnats.

~And my favorite way to use lemons, is to put about an ounce of the juice and some water in a spray bottle and spray throughout the house. I’m off to do that now, because right now my house smells like dirty diapers…. I’m glad it’s trash day, and I’m glad for lemons.

Popcorn tastes better right handed

April 23, 2008 - 12:26 pm 7 Comments

I was eating popcorn and realized that I did not want to eat it with my left hand… because somehow my brain was telling me that it tasted better, had more flavor, when I ate it with my right hand….So I’d reach way over with my right hand, to reach the popcorn.

I’m convinced, try it. It’s good. Let me know, does it taste better to you?

(maybe something is wrong with me…. anyone else have any weird quirks they do for no apparent reason?)

A great hook up

April 22, 2008 - 6:10 pm 1 Comment

My husband got hooked up with an early copy of a cd by 10th avenue north. I love it!
I’ve already listened to it over and over, it’s really really good.

Apparently you can pre order it, or it is in stores May 20th. I highly recommend it. This video shows clips of some of their songs. I hope you like it…

Tiny Talk Tuesday

~I was giving my 3 year old a bath, and washing his hair. The other two were playing in the room next to me. During the amount of time it takes to wash a 3 year olds’ hair, my 1 year old, unrolled a roll of wrapping paper, then came into the bathroom and was dipping the paper tube into the toilet, and turned around and threw the wrapping paper into the bath tub. “How did he have time to do all that? He’s pretty quick.” was all I could think.

~My three year old was talking to me about how he didn’t want to have birthday parties. I asked him why, and he said, “There’s too many people who will take my cake.” (I guess we need to work on the generosity side of things with him!)

~I was over hearing my kids have a theology conversation the other day, and my three year old says, “Bluey, you love God and I love Jesus… because I’m a listener.”

The Hot Awesomes

April 20, 2008 - 5:54 pm 6 Comments

That is the name of our family guitar hero band… “The Hot Awesomes.” We have the occasional guest that gets to join for their stay, and rock it with us for awhile, but for the most part these days it’s just me, Brody and Blue.
I have to say that my 5 year old son is the best…

Now he gets limited game time, so it’s not like he’s playing it all day… (right Brody? I don’t know what happens while I’m at work) I think he developed his skills while he was down with the fractured ankle.

Today I promised that I’d play it with Blue, and he spent the whole time laughing at me, while I got booed. As one of the founding members of The hot awesomes, I better step it up so I don’t get kicked out.
