The Smiley face

My three year old is drawing smiley faces, everywhere.

They are all over his notebooks, he draws them on his hands, on the dry erase board, and last night when we came home, he was laying in the hallway drawing a smiley face…. on the carpet… with a marker.

The Chocolate Cross

March 21, 2008 - 6:06 am 11 Comments

I was looking through the easter section of a store, and there I saw, among the chocolate bunnies, chickies and lambs, a chocolate cross.

Seriously?? Was what I thought, and I looked around expecting someone else to have the same reaction as me.  I mean, do these people thinking up these ideas think that Christians want anything in the shape of a cross, to honor their Lord, even something chocolate that they can nibble on?
To me it’s the equivalent of having a chocolate electric chair or something weird like that.

I’m sure their marketers were sitting around thinking up slogans like, “Come and kneel at the cross…. mmmmm dark chocolate…..”

~Is it just me, or is that weird?  Would you buy a chocolate cross?

Tiny Talk Tuesday

March 18, 2008 - 12:35 pm 6 Comments

~We were walking through Target the other night, and my kids never fail to say something embarrassing, and loudly.

This time my three year old says, “I smell under ware!” (while we walked by the lingerie section)
Everyone around us started laughing, and we were all cracking up.

~What is an embarrassing thing that your kids have said?

St. Patrick’s day

March 17, 2008 - 1:52 pm 7 Comments

Did you wear green today or get pinched?

I did neither, but as a kid I loved St. Patricks day because green is my favorite color. (I think I also enjoyed pinching people)

I’m in the mood to celebrate, probably because Irish things have infiltrated our lives the past month.  We’ve been listening to Irish music, and I am reading a novel that is now set in Dublin, and following this Irish peasants’ life, and Brody and I have taken a liking to eating at a little Irish pub down town.

Nonetheless, we have nothing planned for this St. Patty’s day, in fact we are having spaghetti for dinner, but maybe I’ll at least put on something green.

Mercy Me live tonight…

Mercy me is having a concert tonight in Nashville, and they are brodcasting it live from their site.  Be sure to go there and watch, it should be a great time!

Allergies

March 16, 2008 - 5:48 am 10 Comments

~I am definitely allergic to something.  I have had a dull headache for about a week, my eyes get redder and burn as the days go on, and my nose is stuffy.

It’s warming up here, it’s probably something blooming, growing etc….

I’ve heard a lot of people recommend “Zirteck.” I’ve also heard that it’s not worth taking anything once you start having an allergy, you have to catch it before.  (so next year, before it’s spring, I should take Zirteck??)

~Anyways, any tips on how to keep my eyes from turning hot pink and stinging each day?

The little Destructor

Every time we turn around our baby is into something.  His favorite things to do is to find something, run a few steps and then throw it.  (even things he finds in the trash…… like diapers)

~Here he is, getting into the fireplace rocks.

~Some fun throwing the coloring books around. (a few drawers over are my “important files” that he likes to throw around too…)

“Positive Post Tuesday”

March 11, 2008 - 7:41 pm 3 Comments

(My husband has decided to make it a “thing,” for those who want to, to write an encouraging post on Tuesdays to build someone up.)

I want to build up my husband.  He’s my best friend, and I feel very fortunate to be married to him.  He’s incredibly supportive, loving, funny, and faithful.

Life with Brody is always interesting, in a good way.  How could it not be entertaining to live with someone who wears biker goggles instead of sun glasses, or walks up one day asking me to shave just part of his head to see what it would look like?  I love his creative ideas, and I love our life together.  We laugh a lot, and talk a lot.

One of my favorite things to watch is his relationship with our sons.  I love to watch him teach our oldest to hit the baseball, to encourage our three year old to play his keyboard and sing us his songs, and to melt when his baby nuzzles in for a cuddle.  I love that we have these children to share, and we can sit and shake our heads together, and just understand what it is we feel.

Brody is amazing, and I’m a lucky girl.

The tooth fairy and it’s not spring yet.

He lost his first tooth! (swallowed it, we think…) How much does the tooth fairy bring your children?   It snowed, a lot!  We’ve got a cancelled baseball practice, so we’ll throw some snow balls instead!
