2 AM walks
My friend and neighbor called us last night around 2 am. Her daughter had woken up crying holding her side, and she needed to take her to the emergency room. I grabbed a pillow and blanket and walked through our quiet street to her house to sleep on the couch for awhile.
While I was there I had a dream that someone had snuck into my house and stolen the toilet, but it turned out they’d just wanted to replace it for us. Definitely weird and random…
My friend returned home with her daughter, it had been an infection not appendicitis, and I walked back home through our quiet street. I realized I liked taking walks in the middle of the night, I liked helping out a friend who has helped me out in so many ways, and I was glad that her daughter was going to be okay.

Next time I won’t just stare at the phone while it’s ringing.

You are a wonderful human being, did you know that?
I used to enjoy the quiet early morning walks too from the library to my dorm when I was in college.
