Has this ever happened to you?

~ I woke up in the middle of the night to the baby crying, and as I got out of bed with my eyes still closed and half asleep, I fell over.
Both my legs were asleep.
In my delusional state of mind I thought to myself, “I must lay here, otherwise I’ll drop the baby.” So there I laid on the floor for who knows how long, until I realized that if I could get up and walk into the baby’s room, I most likely wouldn’t suddenly fall over and drop him.
Weird, I don’t know how I was sleeping to cause both my legs to fall asleep, has that ever happened to you?

Not quite that, but I have had sleep paralysis before. I would wake up, fully alert to my surroundings but completely unable to move. Very disturbing.

Read that link. That sounds so scary!

“The hallucinatory element to sleep paralysis makes it even more likely that someone will interpret the experience as a dream, since completely fanciful, or dream-like, objects may appear in the room alongside one’s normal vision.”

That’s never happened to me, but I do tend to think irrationally when I’m awakened to the sound of one of my kids crying.

This made me laugh out loud. Literally. Not just like, LOL. Cuz everyone knows when you write LOL you don’t really mean you laughed out loud.

But I really did. Laugh out loud. Funny stuff, KD.

    Funny. Dang funny.

I once woke up after sleeping on my arm all night, rolled over and thought that someone else’s arm was laying across my chest. I figured out it was mine after a few seconds but it kinda scared me. ( I was 13 i think)

that is funny and sad all at the same time… the sleep deprivation we go through as new moms!!!
i have had one leg fall asleep and it caused me to fall flat on my face. but never both, that must be even more tricky!
ben has a really funny story of that happening to him- except he kept trying to get up, and kept falling, like 3 or 4 times until he decided to lay there and wait for his legs to be normal. it was in the middle of the night, too.

ha ha ha! I am glad, fancypants, that you laughed out loud, not just the typed way either. (on a side note, when I type, ha ha ha, that means that I was laughing.)

Seth~ that would freak me out thinking someone else’s arm was on top of me! My arm has also fallen asleep, but I whacked myself in the face when I woke up.

Larissa, that is so funny that Ben kept trying to get up over and over again, that would’ve been funny to see.

i’ve whacked myself a few times with my arm when it was asleep. and i’ve had dreams that the baby is rolling off the bed and woke up in a panic to find that the baby is comfortable in its own bed.

i remember stumbling into Haley’s room when she was a newborn and thinking, “I want Haley to go to a good college – RIGHT NOW!” new parent lack of sleep – you gotta love it. by the way, Haley goes to Baylor now. time flies.

what scary dreams about the baby! I know, nights seem so long with a newborn. It feels like it will never end. And then you blink and they are two and sleeping through the night, and you blink again and they are 5… crazy.
